Re: Not What I'd Call a "Hardwood"
Huh..... My search for your pine, also landed me on Ibanez... where they use Treated New Zealand Pine. Nothing there as far as 'treatment'... Then sequitur search provided some information https://www.nztif.co.nz/buying-nz-timber/ Not sure what the treament is, but I could imagine a dry wood being r...

Re: Need some advice on fingerstyle guitars
One approach is to change string gauge and material on 1,some,all Might take a while and cost more. The concept is to reduce or increase sound pressure from the appropriate string. Now... depending on the gauge and material you currently... it might be changing the 'other' strings. I have read where...

Re: Best straight edge size for tuning up guitars
You probably made your decision.
I would have said 24" to allow it to be used between nut and bridge and other protuberances.
Starrett is a 'go-to' name, other manufactures may provide a cost effective 30" to add to your collection.

Usually the best thing to do when you aren't sure is nothing. There is nothing wrong with telling him that this is not in your current skill or experience set. But since you have started it, you pretty much own it for now. The usual approach is to 'spot test in an inconspicuous space' Here are some ...

Re: How do you think about this guitar amp?
From the video, the audio sounds fine.
The real test is hearing it a room while playing.
Small Room, Large Room, Soft / Hard ?
I think that it becomes a convenience item for practice and fireside.
But it may fit the bill for many.

Re: Lacquer spray painting process
Brian... thank you for the key words. The lacquer one desires is much harder to find due to a 'fear' of VOC's Smaller, local hardware stores are more likely to stock it than Lowes or Home Depot. The older nitrocellulose lacquer is the only way to go. Find a safe way to keep out of the over-spray, fu...

So ... in general the take away is that we 'hate' photobucket. (I do)... we will not do business with them . Although I am a free market capitalist, this sucks, because they changed the rules for everyone, now matter when. I put some pictures there in good faith because I felt they would show me som...

I'm 34, and I feel like a tired old man right now. ... This will not get better with age. Make sure you have a reasonable income and start saving, or buying real estate. . Re: Gizmo for testing pot and cap values
Sure, I'd love to see the wiring diagram... and it would help round out this thread with the necessary info. . It would also be nice to compare potentiometers of various tapers. I guess it wouldn't be to hard to chase down an audio taper and a linear taper. maybe a reverse audio, or exponential.. . ...

Another use for these type of cards is a quick mix board for epoxy, using a strip cut from another card for a mixer and applicator.

Re: Nut vise - another tool gets built
Consider a few stepped vise jaws as well.
Steps can be sized as needed.
A step will prevent the object from being pushed down into the jaws while applying working pressures.

Compass Plane.
I have three old ones. Don't get used much.. but they are cool.
For those who find this a new and unfamiliar tool, the sole plate can be adjusted from convex.. through flat... to concave
