Re: Making a Portable Spindle Sander
Hi Paul, Good job! I've been contemplating doing something similar but a little cruder with a wooden rolling pin. I probably won't do the drill mod and just use spray glue to glue sandpaper to the rolling pin. (my wife has a few extras so she shouldn't mind) I'm sure she'll never miss just one!

Making a Portable Spindle Sander
I've finished making my spindle sander and therefore the spindle sander video. Works great! I think it's the best thing I've found for doing instrument necks. Decided to have a little fun with this video so it's a little different than my regular HOWTOs. Enjoy and hope you find it informative should...

Re: A drum sander with a twist
Sometimes the most valuable part of the process is learning what doesn't work. Sharing that can allow others to skip that part of the journey. Thanks! I agree and in fact when I plan most of my projects I take a route where I will cover as many variables and try to learn as much as I can along the ...

A drum sander with a twist
For things like thin stock for pick guards or head stock laminations, a pattern router bit runs the risk of shattering the work piece. So I'm trying to put a bearing on a drill press drum sander. It took a lot of mucking around, but I finally got something workable.

A jig to make ukulele necks
It took way longer than it should have to make, but I’ve finally finished a jig to quickly and accurately make the main part of ukulele necks. For the headstock and heel I’ve got other things on the way, but for now here it is:

Re: Making a bridge setting jig - good idea or not?
I am working on a newer simpler version of this tool. One thing I like impressed with on this jig though was just how in tune I got the uke. Like, sparklingly in tune. I've measured before and then filed the saddle, but this way I was able to play the instrument until I got it just right, and was ab...

Making a bridge setting jig - good idea or not?
I've been working on a 'contraption' to allow setting the bridge fore and aft, up and down, and side to side. The idea is that once the bridge is properly located, it can be marked and then glued down to the top. For this first prototype test I am using a cigar box uke that I'm making. Hopefully if ...

Re: Making fretboard inlay dots
Having started this, there are some other ideas I'd like to explore but, alas. I could also clean my messy shop. Hmmm...
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Making fretboard inlay dots
I have been in the shop playing with different ideas on making fretboard inlay dots, both materials and tools.
Here's a short video I made, although I'm sure that this group has some great ideas as well to share.

Making a Cigar Box Ukulele
I am getting ready to make some soprano ukes, but first... a cigar box uke. And along the way, I decided to dress it up. Plus shop some shop made jigs I use.

Making a Measuring Wheel
Today I made a measuring wheel. It’s a very old tool used to measure curved surfaces that a regular rule can’t. It’s a quick project and can be made simply or ‘dressed up’.

Setting a tablesaw fence with digital calipers
I know this could be a little flashier (maybe later), but it works. I can use this handy little jig to accurately set my fence to a thousandth of an inch. As well, it works to calibrate the fence so that it is parallel to the blade.

Re: Ukulele (or guitar) Scarf Joints
I've had different jigs and methods to do scarph joints. My latest does so much more. It wasn't hard to make, didn't take long, makes me wonder why I didn't do it sooner.
