Re: Separated finish
You don't want to inject the CA. That could lead to it squirting everywhere. Place small drops on the open fracture and let it seep in. Try not to get glue on the entire length of the fracture as that will seal it off and prevent the air from escaping, which it must do in order to allow the CA to pe...

Re: Separated finish
I would definitely try some water thin CA glue. It might seep in and make it disappear. Not much to lose trying this. When you put the CA on, if it does not seep in all the way, wipe off the surface then press on the area with your finger to try to pump the CA a bit more.

Re: Looking for ultra low tension plunger dial ndicator
I am not aware of low pressure indicators, but if I had 6 indicators standing around, I would sacrifice one and take it apart to see if I could unwind or stretch the spring and lesson the tension. It might work.

Re: Les Paul Gold Top Shattered Neck II
A small piece of metal like an artist's spatula holds very little heat. It is kind of like aluminum foil that has been in a hot oven. You can take it out of the oven and touch it immediately because there is no heat sink effect to the thin foil. The artist's spatula is also too thin to provide much ...

Re: Les Paul Gold Top Shattered Neck II
I hate to go against established convention (and my old friend Clay), but I don't think that a spatula effectively applies heat to a fretboard joint. If the spatula is in the joint then that section is already separated and the heat is not needed there. The heat needs to be applied to the tight join...

Re: Drying cabinet plans or photos
A lot of cabinets use a simple lightbulb to control humidity. I am not sure a dehumidifier locked up in a small cabinet would be a good idea. They can put out a lot of heat in addition to the dry air. That might be too much for such a small space. There are a lot of older discussions on drying cabin...

Re: Les Paul Gold Top Shattered Neck II
Try to keep the heat more concentrated in the center of the fretboard and don't let it touch the plastic. You might be able to remove the fretboard with the binding still attached and undamaged. You don't really have any other options on this neck. Keep the temperature moderate. Hot enough to soften...

I think you need a pre-amp between the piezo pickup and the amp.

Re: Les Paul Gold Top Shattered Neck II
Before any glue comes out, you need to see if all the pieces can be re-aligned and how to clamp it. You may have to remove the fingerboard first.

Re: Martin N-20 Folk Guitar repair
Thanks Paul. The repaired back cracks are almost invisible. The finish repairs along the bindings did not turn out quite as nice, but are not too bad. In the end, I am very happy with the TJ Thompson back crack repair kit.

Re: Martin N-20 Folk Guitar repair
It took me awhile to complete the repair but need to close with some final pictures. The finish polished up pretty nice, but I didn't want a full gloss because the neck was left in its natural state. So I sanded up to 6000 grit then hit it with a lambswool buffing pad and some caranuba paste floor w...
