Re: Hurdy Gurdy Kit (puzzle contstruction)

Thanks Charlie.

For a hundred bucks, I think I'll take a chance. It'll make a neat wall hanging if nothing else. I'll come back later with my impressions.

Re: Electric Mandolin Strings

In "The Hammered Dulcimer" by Howard Mitchell, he experimented and found for a fixed string length, plain strings of the same composition, all broke at approximately the same pitch regardless of gauge. As you increase the gauge you increase the mass lowering the pitch for a given tension n...

Re: Hurdy Gurdy Kit (puzzle contstruction)

The recording, if it is to be believed, sound fairly decent.

Hurdy Gurdy Kit (puzzle contstruction)

Saw this on facebook and was tempted. Anyone familiar with it or have any thoughts?

Re: dying wood question

A pretty good video on "Ebonizing" wood. Fairly long but the take away is archival grade India Ink (i.e. Speedball or Dick Blick brands).

Re: Bridge lifting, Guild 12 String

Again thanks for the replies.

I'll do a closer inspection of the crack. I leaning toward documenting the extent of the separation and monitoring it.

Re: Bridge lifting, Guild 12 String

Thanks for the responses.

Brian - Good to know. On a guild by chance?

John - This looks like an easy job except for the caveat you mention. I wonder if super glue or epoxy might work.

Bridge lifting, Guild 12 String

I have a Guild 12 string. I have noticed that the back of the bridge (tail side) has lifted slightly, just enough to slip a piece of paper under. My thought was to glue and clamp it before it gets worse. I don't know how long this condition has existed as it was only on close inspection that I notic...

Re: Electric Octave Mandolin Build

Working with brass is not that hard. Get a scrap piece and drill and counter sink a few holes.

What did you do for the fret board?

Re: Software for Performers

Thanks for the replies. Charlie and Dave, I'll check out mobilesheets and guitarpro. Thanks. I came across another product, SongBook, which looks interesting. It's multi-platform also. Mark, I'm curious about all three categories, though my immediate need is for sort of digital fake book. I agree kn...

Software for Performers

Not sure if this is the right venue but I figure it will have the best chance of been seen here. I'm looking for an android, windows or linux apps for performers. In particular one that can scroll words and chords during a performance. I've been told OnSong for the iPad would do this but I haven't v...

Re: Gotoh 12 string tailpiece ?

Here's a pic of the guitar with the laminate on it. I drew lines from straight edges aligned with neck and have redrilled the string feeds from the back. As you can see, it looks misaligned. I didn't try this before I laminated the maple on top. I wish I had. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff274...

Re: Gotoh 12 string tailpiece ?

Thanks for the reply Freeman. This is on an electric kit guitar. The GTP12 is looks similar to the piece that came with the kit (I couldn't find any pix of the STP12). On both the even number sides (toward the bass side of the neck) have less mass and looks like they should be for the octave strings...

How about applying a good coat of paint dump in the powder. Empty when dry. Drive a screw through with the grounding wire.

Is a Gotoh 12 string tailpiece suitable for Richenbacker stringing and/or standard acoustic 12 stringing?

Thanks
