Re: Hi guys :/, terrible mistake while refreting

Hi guys, back now with some pictures this time! I had to use some time making the CA glue to build up in order to be sanded down evenly with the neck surface, I think I did a fine job making this technique work, with the sealer on the surface the feel is almost perfect, I can baaarely feel the diffe...

Re: Hi guys :/, terrible mistake while refreting

I would really love to, but I don't have any way to take pictures :/ I'm currently getting the CA glue on the small grove (it's 0.5mm in depth and 1cm in length, quite shallow) teh CA needs a lot of curing time but so far I think I can get the outcome I wanted, tomorrow I'll check how the CA is buil...

Re: waxing a fretboard?

the guy who said to thin down the wax with alcohol is a genious, now I use half the wax and the process is cleaner and It don't get wax inside the frets, they still need cleaning afterward of course.

I get a beautiful satin/shine, will look lovely after I oil the fretboard.

Re: Hi guys :/, terrible mistake while refreting

by CA parchment I mean just a drop of CA glue, then wait it to cure and start building up the layers of CA glue until the small groove is filled, I've seen this technique for filling laquer divots (if that's the right word for it.) the point is to get a great amout of CA layers until it overboard th...

Hi guys :/, terrible mistake while refreting

you know when you do something really really stupid, but you just realize it after you did it? well, this is the case, I was refretting my "velvet" guitar as a customer purchased it but wanted bigger frets, it also need to be re-laquered. my saw is a bit off I suspect, it's the frets slots...

Re: Best tool / jig to cut neck scarf joint

I use a hand-saw or a friend bandsaw, then I clean up the joint with an angled sanding jig I use one similar to this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6zvz0huvAU and hold the everything with some C clamps. mine isn't as perfect as his, my 10° jig is like 10.5, but I always get the same angle ever...

waxing a fretboard?

I just did something quite weird, not sure if I just ruined my guitar or I did something great out of pure improvisation, don't have pictures for now and can't take them, so you'll have to read my ugly English. I'm, using an Cumaru fretboard, stuff used for building rail tracks back in the day, it j...

Re: Fretboard extension

what I have understand, the body surface that "joints" the neck to the body is actually angled just as the neck pocket, so when you glue, you shouldn't have any extra space need for filling. so in a way, it isn't an exactly flat top body. other option is to make what´s done in some acousti...

Selene 01 - rebuilding a once failed proyect

If anyone remember my first build (which it was a fail) didn't made it at all, and I wanted to craft it again, better than ever and with all the experience I have currently, for it to work like it should have from the beginning, so I'll make a abstract about the current progress of this build. NECK ...

Re: 4 string metal bass.

Hi there, small update. I seriously need a better fret saw, this one is getting quite dull, I want to order the stewmac one, the most affordable one http://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Types_of_Tools/Saws/Adjustable_Fret_Slotting_Saw_Saw_only.html more pics. I did this to shape the end part of the ...

small jack on active electronics question.

this is a question that I need from experience, as I do not have a "music store" nearby, I need to import most of the products I use (so can't risk to get them wrong). I need to do this wiring (they are active Seymour Duncan replicas) https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/...

Re: 4 string metal bass.

I used this video for the headstock design. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n62UVoD-14w

it's VERY long and very inefficient in its explanation, but you can adapt a lot of tips from his work on how to design your own headstocks

4 string metal bass.

This is the first proyect for a client I got, lot of time in designing phase and the client just now have the whole money for the materials, this proyect have run for a few months, like 4 or 5 by now so yes, it's been hard but now I'm closer to finishing it, so I decided to open a thread on this. it...

Re: little opinion on active bass pickups.

great ideas, messing with the pickup itself might be a bit too much on this stage (for demagnetizing the rods for example) but the steel plate I might give it a try (you are suggesting the steel plate for for the P-bass pickup, right?) anyway, I will wait until tomorrow to order all the elctronics a...

little opinion on active bass pickups.

Hi people, I had this bass guitar proyect from a long time (gonna post the proyect in another place of the forum somewhere this year) and its time to buy me some pickups. for the budget that I have, I decided some wilkinson pickups, it's a MM pickups on the bridge plus a P-bass pickup on the neck, a...

Re: Gas Can Electric Guitar?

what do you mean by "gas can"?, are you planning on building something similar to a cigarbox guitar? and by "plans", there are a bunch of sites with plans, but the issue is to print them in real-life scale, some measurements are crucial, like scale and bridge positioning, if you ...
