Thanks Guys! I really appreciate the positive comments.

Re: Soxy Custom Fullatone powder white
The pickguard is glued down with this 3M tape which is really thin
and quite powerful. I wanted to make sure it was flush and get the look without screws

Re: PRS nut compensation measurements - 25.5" scale
I've done this on a number of guitars. 0.8mm off the 1st fret to leading edge of nut slot
works well on Fender scale length.
works well on Fender scale length.

Re: Soxy Custom Fullatone powder white
Thanks Guys. I crushed chalk into blonde shellac and padded it on over
white timbermate filler. I dont think i will do it again as though it feels nice
and isn't too thick it was a nightmare to do!
I think just satin white poly or nitro would have been fine

Re: PRS nut compensation measurements - 25.5" scale
PRS have always used a nut compensation where it is closer to the 1st fret than it "should be"

Thanks Matthew. I cant find the matching heel cap and end graft pics but its the same theme throughout.
It should be coming for a service soon so I can remember to grab some better pics then.
All the best, Joseph

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
I have had a quick....repeat quick... look at the patent. i dont agree it is the same "thing"as Lindas design. But at the end of the day - if she feels this way I have no problem with being respectful and paying homage. it is a small ask! We owe a bid debt to the luthiers which paved the w...

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
well i was planing and sanding by feel and trying to get it to sit right.
In the end it was only an extra 15-18mm on the treble side. The depth on th lower bout bass side was just under 90mm.
I would feel more confident taking it deeper next time.

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
Thanks Bob WRT who did what when where first, it doesnt really interest me TBH. We share knowledge as best we can, but it seems to be the nature of the work that even with the same methods, the luthiers "touch" makes for a different result each time. I referenced Lindas work as she was to ...

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
Thanks Andy - currently I primarily make Electric guitars "by hand" - which is por nomenclature and commercially ridiculous! I have an OM nearly finished, so will post that when it is done. Long term my goal is to transition out of repair work (which has been very good to me financially, a...

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
Thanks Bob. I took the low E quite a bit longer to "wake up" than the other 3. I think I will try a deeper body and more radical wedge next time. Do any of you guys know a sure fire place to buy the hardware used in Rick Turners neck joint? I think that would be superior to my mortise and ...

Re: Acoustic bass Wedged shape Cocobolo/Englemann
Thanks Guys - well its louder acoustically than the Martin basses i have worked on - that was my goal. The sides are doubled in the upper bout. They are also stiffened with Adirondack side braces in the lower bout. The back I made stiff and "non-active" - I felt it was safer as it was my f...

Thanks JC. The endgraft is same design as headstock and I made a heel cap and feature on the rear of the body in the same vein.
