Re: Soxy Custom Fullatone powder white

real cool take on a classic. I like the beveling and the interesting intersections it has. I don't see any screws on the pickguard. How is it attached? hidden magnets?

Re: Tongue Drum

Thanks Peter.

I did Google it and found some advice on tuning, mostly involving removing mass at the base of the tongue. A few said to narrow the width from the base to the head. I'm not too particular about exact tunings, I just want something a 2 yr old can make noise with.

Tongue Drum

I would like to build a tongue drum for my nephews first child ( every kid should have a drum!) and could use some help. I have stock that is 6 x 12 x 1/2 (Purple heart, maple and bubinga) . I was thinking of 4 notes (tongues). Is there anything special that has to be done to the tongues so they vib...

Col. Re: Saved from the garbage!

Ten years ago I was driving home from the in-laws house and saw an organ sitting by the curb. I got out to check it out and to my suprize it was a Hammond A106 (basically a B3 with built in speakers). The speakers were gone but all the tubes were there and the rest looked intact. I knocked on the do...

Re: dimensions of a Magnatone Leilani/Varsity lap steel, anyone?

That is a sheet of pearloid pattern celluloid plastic. It was held over a tank of heated acetone (i think, or some similar volitale dangerous chemical) to soften up and then wrapped around the body and stuck on with glue. Very toxic and extremely dangerous fumes. You couldn't do that in a factory to...

A worthy effort Tristan! Especially with all the hand work and limited power tools! Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: I finally finished that dulcimer kit

I didn't like the piece of wood that was supplied for the end so I used a piece of ebony.

I finally finished that dulcimer kit

Back in the early ninties I bought a dulcimer kit that was discounted as a cosmetic second (the grain on the top is not parallel to the finger board). I started it and then it got side tracked by a myrid of other things (life). So I dug it out of the attic where it had been patiently waiting for me....

I agree, That looks great! I really like the top, the way the lighter stripe comes down the middle. My favorite version of the Les Paul. Keep pushing on, I don't want to be the only one to finish mine <BG>.

Re: $100 local materials challenge, David Frassetto's lapsteel

Quite a lot. The pickup is from one of those Tokai lawsuit guitars from the late 70's that I bought used a long time ago. It is 5.7k ohms and sounds real nice. The steel has a nice bark when pushed hard and cleans up nicely when you dial the volume down a little. The hollow body gives it a midrangey...
