P 90 cavity depth needed

Hey guys just need an optimum routing depth for soap bar p-90 s both neck and bridge. My bodies are flat topped non arch type. My neck angle is 2.4 so the neck pickup should sit deeper than the bridge . Also, Other sources seem to say the cover should be at 3/16" below the bottom of the strings...

Re: Ok to use a 16.5" 2 way truss rod on an lp neck build?

Thanks. I wondered if a shorter rod like the 16.5 would have best curve in the 6-7-8 fret area instead of the 8- 9-10 fret, of the 18" rods. and the rod over the heel probably does little . Im glad i can use them. Ill test each ,because i feel they are a few years old and maybe not as good as m...

Ok to use a 16.5" 2 way truss rod on an lp neck build?

Ive always used an 18" truss rods for all my guitars, but a retired repair man gave me 7 each 16-1/2" , 2 way truss rods. Im wondering if they would be long enough for electric guitar builds. What say youall ?

Looking for 7 string neck dimentions

Could some one share standard 7 string neck sizes. Fret board at nut, 12 th and end of fret board for 21 frets. String spacing at nut could help also. On a 7 string what is the string to string spacing too? Im just looking for basic sizes to get started,so client can verify/change what he wants. Tha...

Re: SIX ...

One thing i disliked on my first archtop was the bubble carve at the cutaway. I now must use the Gibson carve method on number two. Are there any tips for this , or any deadly pitfalls? Anyone have pics to share?

If you want to listen to some sweet very vintage archtops ,i suggest Perry Beekmans yt channel. Its drool worthy, and tones are very different ,one guitar to another. His 51 epiphone zephyr is the real deal.

Re: Best neck pickup location

Im no engeneer or math wiz and ill probably not in my life time make enough archtops to address any real test difference between many different pickup placements. I think some one mentioned playing style and maybe Pat Mathenys requirements were for a loud punchy clear tone for live playing, that by ...

Best neck pickup location

Im wondering why Ibanez PM model archtops have the neck pickup located about 3/4" away from the end of the finger board. Is there a correct harmonic location? Im drawing my 2nd archtop, and ive always wondered about best tone placement, especially on a one pickup archtop? This archtop will have ...

Re: surface area of bridge contact with guitar top

Ill toss my .02 in here. Ive gone with a bridge that leans more toward the mass of a D aquisto bridge. Its not as large but is far away from the footed bridges. I spent many hours sanding the bridge to the top, when i thought it was done ,I sanded more. For that archtop I think it worked,as the firs...
