Favorite Router?

Dear MIMF,

I'm probably not going to be able to buy anything fancy for a while (just closed on a house.....it's expensive!!!).

However, I'm thinking of getting a better router one of these days.

Do you have any recommendations?

Re: Building instruments, while having young kids

Update. Kiddo is almost 4 months old. I'm actually way more productive after having the kid, because it forces me to keep my crap together. I can get maybe a few minutes a week, with maybe a few hours on a weekend. That being said, my son's smile in the morning (usually with a poopy diaper) warms my...

Re: Building instruments, while having young kids

That's super helpful.

I'm really excited to share the world with this kiddo.
Currently, he just does big poops and cries a lot....but when he smiles, it warms my cold heart.

Involving/teaching young kids while building instruments?

Oooooh! Sorry. Lack of sleep. My original question was the wrong one. Can I change it to "How do I build instruments *with* kids (to stimulate their interest in learning)?" I'd read a book, "how to make and play cardboard instruments." It went over very simple instruments (cardbo...

Re: First post… questions

I'm less experienced than everyone else.

What I did was just set the braced top/back onto the rims...and use a small hand plane to remove side wood until the surface is flush/passive fit.
Then, I glue the surface on.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I'm hoping to mock up a possible build with some scrap lumber sitting around.

Re: What electric guitars have you built because you couldn't buy it?

Hey Michiel, Handsome dude, and handsome guitar. I think I like it better than the "real" Ricks. I've been pondering this thread a bit because I feel like a lot of times I'll get carried away, obsess about something, and find out that it's sold on Amazon/ebay/aliexpress/etc for cheaper tha...

LOL. That's a good quote, Gilbert.

Hey Bryan,
I totally feel you. I have those moments all the time...especially when I'm under high stress (which is most of the time).
I try to follow checklists, protocols, and keep solid documentation.
Some days, I can only do the bare minimum.

Re: How do you store your plans?

Thanks for the tips!

Currently, I'm putting mind rolled up in plastic art tubes.
I don't trust my garage to be moisture controlled or rat free.
