Trying to make American guitars in Flamenco Country

Hi, I've seen a rather good deal for deVilbiss starter pack, ref. 802342

The pack contains two spray guns (I believe they are HVLP), for standard finishing and small tasks, plus a lot of accessories.

I found it in ToolsParadise, but it is available elsewhere, hopefully also with shipping to Spain.

My question is: would this be a decent set up for a hobbyist? Has anybody checked it out?

I have a 2HP compressor with a 25 liter tank, the typical hobby compressor. Would this handle such spray guns?

A lot of questions, I know, but I'm new to spraying equipment, still hunting for tools.

Cheers

Check the CFM requirements on the gun, and check what CFM your compressor is capable of. You don't need massive amounts of reserve if you're just working on one or two guitars at the same time. You only really need a small touchup gun (with a normal, non-spot repair tip) for spraying guitar sized objects. Unless you're also spraying cars or larger objects, I reccomend just getting a single smaller gun. I can run my SATA MiniJet (which is HVLP, and not particularly thrifty with air use) on a cheap 1.5 HP oilless compressor with a 50 liter tank, and if it's fully pressured, I can usually spray a coat or two on the tank alone, without the motor kicking in.

A possible hitch with shipping may be RoHS complaince; a few years back I couldn't get a hold of a number of guns because they hadn't been certified for use in the EU/didn't conform to EU efficiency regulations. hopefully that's been corrected by now.

Thanks Mattia, I also had problems with RoHS (also at work, a nightmare!!), Stewmac did not send the Kent Armstrong minihumbuckers to Europe one year ago. Now they do.

Concerning the spray guns, I have a very cheap big gun (with 1.8 tip size), which came in a set with other accessories for the compressor. I want a decent minigun for precission jobs, like sunbursts, and this package seemed too good to be true: both a mini gun and a big one, with better than average quality, different tip sizes, cleaning kit, etc, all for less than 200 bucks. I could keep the big gun for clear coats and purchase a good minigun for precision jobs, but the package is attractive! Call it a consumism attack

Thanks for the comments on the compressor, I'm sure it'll be fine for my guitar finishing rate!

Cheers
