Bruce Birling's Double neck Bass That has a bit of soul [Picture] - created 04-17-2009

Double neck Bass I did for One crazy Bass Player.

Body is Basswood (for weight)

Maple necks

I was given a picture of this guy from Kindergarden. I characterized it on the computer.

Took a picture of myself and put the two together.

The carving was done on a CNC. I dont remember what it weighed but he says he can play it for about an hour before he starts to feel it.

He looks like Alfred E. Newman! I love it!

If I still had the instrument I would get better pics, but the owner is in posession of it.

often headless

Bruce, did you carve those wrinkles in to the sleeves or is that in the paint/ stain job? A very impressive piece of work all around.

Birling, Bruce - 04/18/2009.14:52:08

The entire body was carved on CNC. It is all 3d. The body is simply died and sanded back slightly to enhance the 3d appearance.

I'm thinking the title should read Double "leg" instead of double neck!

Any chance you could sweet talk the owner into sharing a few close ups for us would be great.

Very Cool and unusual build, kudos!
