Dave Anderson - My 1st Tele finished

Hi guys,
My Telecaster is done. After running into a few problems, I finished her up about a week ago and have been playing A Lot! It sounds pretty good with the Duncan stacked humbucker bridge pick up and especially the Bonnell mini-humbucker neck p-up. Jim Bonnell makes a mean mini !! I had to switch out the truss rod .The old Stew Mac hot rod that I had just wasn't working for some reason. It worked fine when I tested it. Anyway,I installed a Blanchard (Allied) rod that I use in my acoustics and all is well.I also had to refinish the neck after heating off the fingerboard. The only thing that bothers me now is the weight. The mahogany weighs a ton. I really wish I would have removed some more weight from the lower bout before I glued the top on. But the good thing about the weight is that it seems to sustain longer and that, I like! I changed the Tele switch plate around and moved the volume knob forward like Bill Kirchen does on his Teles'. I like it much better this way.You don't bump your p-up switch and the volume knob is easier to grab. It's good to do swells this way too! Being my 1st attempt at an electric guitar, I made some bonehead mistakes but overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Good work! A Telecaster and a blackface Deluxe Reverb is the holy grail of electric tone. I have a '66 Deluxe too and it is the best amp I have ever had. Is yours a reissue, or the real thing?

No string trees?

Nice work indeed!
A heavier guitar gives the best tone in my opinion. Why does everyone want a 59 Les Paul? Tone. And most of them are over 10 pounds.
I use Gotoh locking tuners that are graduated heights. Taller for near the nut, and short for away from the nut. And I don't use string trees either, with no isuues.

Yeah, I agree that is one of the best combos' in music history.Unfortunately, my Deluxe is Not the real thing, just a lowly re-issue but it does
sound damn good imho.

I do have 1 string tree installed. That is an older pic. Thanks guys.

Good looking guitar. Love the Bill Kirchen mod and your Tele looks like a real deal "Workin' Man Blues" machine.
