DIY Musical Instruments

Post by Vicky Liu »

Hi, all!

We are researchers at Arizona State University. We invite you to complete the survey below to help us further our understanding of motivations, practices, methods, and communities around DIY musical instruments. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

Here is the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V65WD7K

Many thanks!

There's actually research being done at ASU?
Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it

Peter. Did you follow the link?
I'm always a bit leary of these things.
I need your help. I can't possibly make all the mistakes myself!

It's just a survey monkey. No personal identity data asked for. Harmless.

Yeah, I did the survey first thing - it's interesting.

My comment about ASU was because I lived in Phoenix for 20 years, and ASU was known as a party school.

"In 2002, the (Playboy) list featured twenty-five schools and ten honorable mentions and was topped by Arizona State University."

My daughter went to the U of A where they did serious research, and worked with Irene Pepperberg with the parrot Alex.

The survey seems to target people who make experimental instruments at low cost with salvage materials. Kind of like my very first instrument which was sort of an oboe/sax made from a piece of bamboo and a bassoon reed.

I made a guitar from salvaged deck boards and some firewood... Maybe I can take the quiz!
