Hi there,
Wondering if anyone can help? A few weeks back I saw a guy playing and I instrument almost like a bongo but it had sections (4 I think) that made a harp like sound when he hit them, or perhaps a mellow chime. Would anyone know what this would be called? I'm dying to buy one but not sure where to start .
Thank you

I don't know if this will help you but maybe it was a product of one of the members of Experimental Musical Instruments http://windworld.com/. They have some interesting creations. Notable creators were Sugar Belly Walker and his Bamboo Saxophone, Luigi Russolo and Ugo Piatti with the Intonarumori and Arthur Ferris’ Giant Harp-Violin which was not specially designed to be portable. If not why not just try to build one? I do know that ever since I saw someone banging very seriously on a wooden tea chest, only to be told it was a Cajon, I have harboured a secret desire to build one with cymbals, duck calls, bong bong things and an animal noise generator all tucked inside. I even have the cymbals and the animal noise generator put away.
Actually, now I mention a Cajon I found this link to something...http://www.keymusic.com/en/product/SID-Pro-Cajon

Was it some sort of steel drum, or even a "hang drum"? http://www.hang-music.com/hang.php

Perhaps a tongue drum?
