If you don't mind me asking, what is the need for the reset?

Hi Berry, Thanks for the response.
The answer to your question is, I guess, the same for most guitars the neck is pulling up as evidenced by the gap at the neck joint.
I've watched many videos on steaming a dovetail joint but this is very different & I'm not sure if the steam will penetrate all the areas necessary.

The fact that there is already a gap is in your favor. That gives a point to inject steam and also indicates that the neck joint has already been in movement and should loosen up easier than a tight joint. You may need to remove the fretboard first. That will give you access to the top of the joint where you can drill additional steam injection holes.

I found a webpage with some photos of the neck joint:

Thanks for that - It gave me some ideas. Now I'll need to get some tools in order.
I'll let you know how it goes.

PS I'm not getting any notification in my e-mail. I have to go to the Forum site to see
any responses to my questions - even though I checked the box below. Any ideas ?

No idea on the email thing. I have never done it that way.

Gordon,
Some things to check for notifications:
1. Go to your user control panel and click on "Manage Subscriptions" to see that it shows the topic under your subscription.
2. Check your e-mail spam filter and in-box routing.
3. Note that if there are multiple replies to a topic you are subscribed, to, you will only get one notification e-mail. Further e-mail notifications are blocked until you visit the subscribed topic.

If that doesn't help, send me a PM and I'll do some more digging.

Worked like a charm - all done in about an hour, & very little damage to the finish.
The best part was the bolt (see photo) I drilled & taped
part of the tenon & used the bolt to push the tenon up.

Thanks again for your help.
