Looking for 7 string neck dimentions

Post by Greg Martin »

Could some one share standard 7 string neck sizes. Fret board at nut, 12 th and end of fret board for 21 frets.
String spacing at nut could help also. On a 7 string what is the string to string spacing too?
Im just looking for basic sizes to get started,so client can verify/change
what he wants. Thanks

The one I had was normal string spacing for a 1 3/4" nut, just adding one more string. Normal 1/8th overhang on each side. Works out to around 2.1". Same deal for bridge spacing, whatever you like for bridge spacing plus one string. In other words, keep the string to string spacing normal for whatever 6 string you like the feel of. Neck width at 12th fret is equal to string spacing at the bridge. Mine was a mahogany tele style custom made for Lorne Lofsky by 12th Fret in Toronto. He originally had it with 8 strings but that was too much even for him, he went to 7 strings as described but used a high A string instead of a low C or B string. I strung it with a low B string, usually.
