Anyone use Chladini testing for archtops?

Please put your pickup/wiring discussions in the Electronics section; and put discussions about repair issues, including fixing errors in new instruments, in the Repairs section.

Note the difference in the charts over on the left end. The one without the weight on the tailpiece extends over smoothly to zero at the low frequency limit, while the one with the stays at zero to a bit higher pitch, and then jumps. The weight has dropped the tailpiece pitch, and moved the notch nearly all the way over to the end. You can still see a notch, it's just tiny because the amplitude there is so low. I would also expect the peak of the 'air' resonance to be a little bit higher in pitch without the added weight (maybe a couple of Hz), but it's hard to tell from those charts. If the tailpiece was a bit lighter, so that it's pitch was closer to the 'air' pitch the effect would be greater, and maybe more audible.

I see what you're saying Alan. Thanks again for the feedback.
