Better quality & sound. Adjustable . I won't get into the subjectivity of it but it's basically the go-to floating pickup for many (if not most) high end archtop builders.

Google "Kent Armstrong's handwound floating 12-poles PAF" to find out all you need, incl KA's website for handwounds & lots of this versus that info. (Make sure you check out jazzguitar forum.)

KA 12 pole hand wound PAF is what I choose. The Korean version is a good pickup, but for me the hand wound one sounds more authentically late 50's PAF. Think Kenny Burrell's Super 400.

I'll second Mr. Stewart's recommendation. The Kent Armstrong HANDWOUND floating humbuckers are wonderful. The pole pieces are adjustable and the sounds are great. I've also used the floating P-90 with coil tapping.

You can also order them directly from Kent if you don't have a WDmusic account. PM me if you need his phone number.

Kent is GREAT. Last time we spoke we ended up talking about WWII bi-planes!

Ive abandoned the full sized pup on this build,to many unknowns to test on a customers project. He has said he doesnt want poles showing on the floating pup so it will be either a korean KA pickup or maybe a vintage vibe or Bartolini ,his choice. Thanks for all the great input though.
