Acoustic guitar stand plans

Post by Freeman Keller »

Looking for ideas for guitar stands - either photos of something you have built or plans (links would be appreciated). I prefer wood, something that looks like a piece of furniture, mainly for my acoustics.

Mods, if this is not the correct forum, please move.

Quite a few guys out there making wooden stands commercially, like:
http://www.slayframe.com, http://www.urlacherguitars.com/stands.html , Gruven, Monteleone, Silver Creek, Take-a-Stand (my favorite), some bent lamination designs. Google is your friend. Might give you some ideas. May also want to check this out. http://www.woodcentral.com/contests/gui ... ults.shtml

Oh, I like some of those. Much more than just utilitarian.

Very interesting designs, all. Some elegant and pricy stuff out there, almost makes one consider making such.

Freeman,

It's funny that you mention that.
I've been thinking of it for the past year.

My favorite stand is the Cooperstand, but I think that it's ugly as sin.
I'm thinking of making a nicer version.

Here is one I came up with using bent laminations. The pieces are hinged at the top and bottom so they fold up for travel. The guitar rests on pads made of 1/4" felt.

Here's a Balalaika stand I built several years ago. Pretty basic, but it works.
