New Parlor build
New Parlor build
New Parlor: My first. Just fininished, Off GAL martin plan, slothead, bolt on neck and with sound port and more modern bridge shape.
Claro back and sides, bearclaw sitka top, spruce bracing, steel heel inserts, herringbone rosette and purfling, bubinga binding, EIR bridge and fretboard, schaller tuning machines, did chladni patterns on this one, didn't get a perfect ring. FB dots and inlays:MOP. Curly maple binding and end wedge.
Loved the bubinga for its color and ease of working.
Plays great, sounds great, what can I say. Surprising volume and liveliness. I will post a sound sample next day or 2.
There are some booboos I fixed and still needs some cleanup.

Re: New Parlor build
The picture has a blue cast, I think. I can tell it is a beautiful guitar. But the picture kinda makes is look sickly. A little Photoshop color correction will let those pictures tell the true tale.
Re: New Parlor build
these may be better. Just a few. Still working on lighting. Have to get some more lighting of the same K. any tips such as custom white balance etc. appreciated. I am actually pretty good with both lightroom and photoshop but don't do much of this type photography.

Can you set the white balance in your camera?
What lighting are you using - north daylight? Incandescent might give you better color if you can't set it in your camera.

Maybe I can't fix it, but I can fix it so no one can fix it
Re: New Parlor build
I can set it in the camera or in the software. Don't usually need to. I also have an expodisc for setting custom white balance.
I have to confess I thought I could get by with 2 lights I thought had the same Kelvin rating but they obviously don't and are not the same types.
I have ordered another of my neewer video led lights (use them in outdoor landscape photography) so I can do better white balance. I have tried taking photos outside but I don't like it.
I don't have a lot of daylight coming in and am in a different place last several months.
Thanks for the help.

Re: New Parlor build
I got a tip years ago, to use an amber tint with walnut. It warms up the look, and takes that cold bluish tint out of the finish.

Re: New Parlor build
Thanks,
Plays very nice and is light as a feather.
Funny thing is that more sound seems to come out of the soundport on the parlor than my om's.
