I really like Pie. My favorite is probably pumpkin but I also enjoy any fruit pie. Let's not forget rhubarb and mincemeat. My biggest complaint on Thanksgiving is that there are too many different pies and I can't decide which ones to have. I always end up eating more slices than I should.

A dear old friend of mine and I came up with a solution to this. Eat the pies first. Then sample the rest until sufficiently full.

I like the way you think! But. . . I'd like to find a solution that doesn't also limit my turkey intake.

I love it! It now looks like I was drunk and started a philosophical discussion about eating pie. <G>

Years ago we did a "potluck" with one condition: you had to bring cake. Hmmm…. I can live with that. "Let them eat cake"

When I was a young lad, my mom always made me my own Pumpkin pie.
Needless to say, I could eat the whole think in one sitting.
I could also eat a dozen donuts at one time, and I could cram a whole Mcdonalds hamburger into my mouth.
Those were the good old days, for sure.
My wife is on a healthy meal plan, but fortunately she has not yet discovered tofu.

Allegies to soy is an actual medical thing. I don't suffer from it, but knowing about it has sure gotten me out of eating a lot of tofu!

I know a great tofu recipe.

How To Prepare Tofu

1. Take the tofu out of the container, and immediately throw it into the garbage.
2. Remove bacon from fridge and prepare as usual.

Soy contains phytoestrogen. Tofu is made of soy, so it has phytoestrogen in it. This can be bad for some people, in ways I know nothing about, but both my wife and my sister have been told to avoid not only tofu but also any product that has soy in it - which includes an awful lot of processed foods because it's a great filler for protein. Oddly, soy sauce is OK because the soy is fermented. Apparently. I avoid soy because they grew soy beans near where I used to live, and they stank like a freshly manured field.

I know of a family who does Pie Night. Wednesday before Thanksgiving they just eat pie for dinner. Plenty of time to digest it and stuff yourself with turkey on Thursday.

Why is it that I am just now hearing about Pie Night!?! I mean come on America, Black Friday is a full holiday in this country but we are not all celebrating Pie Night? That settles it for me, the "Holidays" officially start on Thanksgiving Eve (better known as Pie Night) for me. November just got even better.

I would the this from another approach: what is good about tofu? Tasteless chewy white nothingness.

It fits right in there with haloumi cheese and white asparagus as "food-like" objects with little or no reason to exist.

As a tofu lover I have to step in! Tofu takes on the flavors around it. It's great for adding protein to a dish without coloring the taste. It can have many different textures depending on how it's made. I suspect there are tofu dishes many of you would like if they were prepared well.

There is no doubt that I have enjoyed tofu dishes. But. . . it is not the tofu I am enjoying it is the fact that it tastes like the food you flavor it with. Other than protein, it brings nothing to the table. Though to be fair, I don't remember the last time I chose a meal that needed protein added.

You know how, as luthiers we can't look at a tree without seeing guitar parts in it. Well that is a lot like how I see cows. And chickens, and pigs, and turkeys and well I could go on and on.
