RIP Col. Bruce Hampton

Post by david frassetto »

Col. Bruce Hampton, considered by many to be the grandfather of todays Jam band scene and a fixture in the Athens GA music scene, Tragically passed away during the finale of a special concert being held to honor his 70th birthday on Monday. He was responsible for my discovering many of the great musicians that he had in his many bands such as The Hampton Grease Band, The Aquarium Rescue Unit, And the Code Talkers. He will be missed deeply.

Amen. One of the most spontaneous and riveting performers I've ever seen.
