Spring 2013 MIMF Newsletter

The place to chat with your fellow MIMForum members about whatever you want that doesn't relate to instruments, or isn't specific to one instrument family. Pull up a chair, grab a cold one out of the virtual 'fridge, and tell your friends what's on your mind.

Spring 2013 MIMF Newsletter

Hello everyone!

A reminder from staffer Mark Swanson- folks should put their website URLs in their profiles (see the "Profile" tab in your User Control Panel). It's kind of nice that folks who have a website list it here, it helps increase participation. We might consider a "member of the month" topic, where we can feature a link to their website and tell a little bit about them in an on-going discussion. That discussion may or may not contain a bit of an interview, or a little talk anyway about the things on that person's website.

The Archive has landed!
There are a boatload of discussions and more than 28,000 photos many thanks to Deb. Some editing of discussions has been done for the sake of time, hopefully nothing significant was lost.

We are looking at new search tools, for now we're using the same one we use for the old library.

Check it out here! http://www.mimf.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php ... 657#p18276

A new Challenge!!
Ok, the next $100 challenge will start soon (April 1). Got an old countertop you're not using? Turn it into a musical instrument! We're proposing a "reclaimed materials" theme. Build any kind of instrument you want with mostly reclaimed wood, etc. See here for the discussion: http://www.mimf.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1966

Birthday Auction
Got something you don't need or use any more? Consider donating it to our upcoming MIMF Birthday auction. Please drop me a PM if you've got something. So far we've got a small sprayer from Matthew Lau and some woods from Larry Davis. Thanks!

MIMF Instrument Plans
The MIMF plans are available, see the post here: http://www.mimf.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php ... 465#p12932

MIMF Archtop Project

Michael Lewis is still looking for a little help on the MIMF archtop project, check out the discussion here: http://www.mimf.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=540

As always, my thanks and appreciation to the excellent MIMF volunteer staff: Mark Swanson, Barry Daniels, Greg Robinson and Jim McConkey.

Thanks for your support!

Edit: This was sent as an e-mail to all registered users. If you did not get it, please check your spam filters. I got over 100 bounce backs from the e-mail.
