Thunderpants! DIY audiophile headphones. Any thoughts?

Post by Matthew Lau »

No, it doesn't relate to flatulence.

It's DIY headphone mod that apparently sounds nice.
Smeggy at headfi replaced the cups of a Fostex t50rp with custom wood shells, extra dampening, and better cups.
Apparently, they sound really nice.

I'm considering eventually making some (or ordering a kit).
Has anyone tried this?
Also, does anyone have any idea what wood may sound best?

I'm tempted to make an ebony/ziricote/rosewood headphone with bone/faux ivory swivels.
Anyways, just an idle thought.
