Forum rules
Registered members only may use this section for placing free, non-commercial ads for tangible goods. What do we mean by "non-commercial?" If you're an instrument builder you cannot place a free ad here to sell or trade your instruments. If you're a dealer you cannot place an ad here to sell or trade whatever you deal in. Use this section to look for items you want as well - begin the title of your discussion with the shorthand WTB (for Want To Buy), WTT (for Want To Trade), FS (for For Sale), or FREE if you have a tangible item to give away.

Please do not use the discussion here to engage in negotiations with a seller/buyer, nor ask the other party to contact you - you should contact that person directly. Their contact info is available by clicking on their name, "profile", "PM" or "e-mail" icons in the message.

You may NOT solicit to buy or sell services, for people to give you goods or services for free, to sell more than two of the same item, or to sell more than a couple of related items!!

MIMForum etiquette is to post the asking price for the item you are selling; to e-mail the buyer/seller instead of posting a message here, which they may not see, asking them to contact you; and to respond to all e-mail inquiries. Please do not leave your potential buyer/seller hanging.

Members may also use this section to solicit other members to join them in a bulk purchase to meet a minimum order, as long as the organizer is not profiting from the transaction, and the item being purchased in bulk is not sold in smaller quantities by any of our advertisers, or the bulk purchase being organized is a purchase from an advertiser. Please remember that any such transaction is strictly between the parties involved and the MIMForum cannot be responsible for any unfavorable outcome.

Sell your item? Earn a bundle? If you would like to send a small percentage of the sum to help support the MIMForum and keep it online, we won't object! You can use our subscription form and send any amount you wish. Thanks!

Your ad should be limited to 50 words and may contain non-commercial attachments. Links to graphics (that do not display as part of your ad) are OK as long as they are not at your commercial website. Please ask the sysop to delete your ad if the item sells or you find what you want, or post a message saying "Sold" (or whatever). Otherwise the shelf-life of an ad placed here will be 60 days. If you are interested in purchasing a commercial ad, please see our ad rates page. Please do not "bump" your ad, doing so will result in its immediate removal. Thanks.
Do not post your e-mail address, home address, or phone number!!

Moving/Quitting Luthiery Biz - Looking to sell tools, templates, wood, etc. NJ/NY area

Post by Bryan Jeppson »

Property taxes and tough economic times mean I have to sell my house, and I don't feel like moving all this equipment and lumber with me and trying to squeeze it into my new place. Will try and get some pics up later if anyone interested. I'm in central NJ (halfway between NYC and Philly), and some of this stuff is too big to be worth shipping so hopefully there's someone local looking to set up shop. Some of the stuff I'm looking to sell:

Multicarver Duplicating Router/Multicarver- with longer frame option (ideal for carving necks), makita router, dye grinder add-on (for inlay work/templates). Will throw in all my templates with this, which include guitar neck, 4str bass, 5 str bass, an LP carved top, and Archtop (this template alone was $300 - made from cast iron) This is not the el cheapo Terrco duplicarver - this is a rugged solid model on par with the Gemini, but it uses a turnscrew rather than the Gemini's braking mechanism. I tried both models years ago at ASIA and was hooked on this one. Between the templates and options, I've got well over 2k in this, but will let it go for $800.

Shop Fox Overarm (Pin) Router plus 1.5hp router - will throw in whatever templates I have with this, including strat, jazz bass, LP, and others $300

Fretboard Radiusing Jig - will include router and 3/4" bit. This was made by Craig Holden. Picked one up at ASIA years ago. Works with a router rather than the more expensive belt sander. Ingenious design lets you plug in a shop vac into the side for a vacuum clamping effect. Comes with attachments for 7.5,9,12,16" radii. Mix and match for compound. $250

Grizzly 14" ultimate bandsaw w/riser block. Missing one of the lower guides, but works great. $250 Local pickup ONLY. Will throw in Delta dust collector for extra $50

Binks spraybooth - it's big, old and a bit noisy, but powerful belt driven fan. Takes 4 20x20 filters. Will include exhaust hose. $250

Jet 16-32 Drum Sander. Belt is old and worn and will need to be replaced soon. Will throw in cheap dust collector. Local only $400

Other things up for sale - Grizzly radial drill press, jointer, cheap table saw with fretblade and slotting templates, fretboard blanks, LOTS of wood, esp air-dried walnut and cherry, bookmatched figured maple, rough carved necks.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the sales though. Moving is always a pain. Hope you have found/find a nice place to live.

Off the top of my head I'd say the booth is probably about 7 feet tall, 5 ft wide, 5 ft deep...just guessing though. I had to disassemble it to get it into my basement

All the tools are now sold, but I have some leftover air-dried alder and cherry, and possibly some walnut (if the guy I've been holding it for doesnt show up before mid-Jan.
