DAP Rapid Fuse Glue / Nexabond Question

Post by Andrew McSpadden »

Has anyone used the new DAP Rapid Fuse Glue? I heard it used to be Nexabond before DAP bought it. Does it dry hard? Stainable? Any thoughts?

I got a bottle and am going to do some testing and wanted to know if there is anything specific that I should look at based on others experiences.

Thanks

According to the SDS, it's a CA glue with a plasticizer added. I don't know the chemistry, but I would guess that the plasticizer makes it a bit more flexible than normal CA glue which has acrylic plastic in it. I don't know if the plasticizer would evaporate over time, but my worry for instrument construction would be how well it might bond in thirty or fifty years.

The old MSDS. I should have gone there first! Thank you Bob.

Don't want no plastic in my guitars!

It sounds a lot like gel CA glue. It might be great for bindings.
