looking for red dot

Post by Harold Wilkins »

Repairing neck binding on Gretsch, the dots are 1/16th red. Stewart-MacDonald has the black and white but, no red. Plastic Side Dot Material 1/16th red. Allparts.com has them but I'm not a dealer.

I remember that Dan Erlewine (Stew-Mac repairman) suggested using the tip of a carmine red pencil superglued into a 1/16 inch hole in the side of a Gretsch fretboard that matched the original perfectly.

I remember the red pencil superglue thing. I think the red plastic would really work better for me.

Thanks for the reply!

AllParts sells 5/64" (2mm) red styrene rod stock...about 30" worth runs $8.
