Waterslide decal then try-oil?

Hi,
I've gone for the simple option of staining then using try-oil to finish. I'd like to add a waterslide decal - will this affect the true-oil adversely? Is there anther option I could use for 'decorating' the headstock using this colouring/finishing method? Many thanks
