Hi! I've finnaly have taken the step into my very first "guitar building adventure".
I have dicided to restore my old Westbury track 2 Bass from 1981. This is a very fine matsumuko instrument but the finish was very poor.
I have started to remove the old black paint and was thinking to repaint the black on the back and sides, and maby a transparent black on the beutyful maple top. Or keep the top natural? And maby use some vax or oil?
What do you guys think? I have no experience whit this but you've gotta start somewhere, right?
Advice needed on what finish..

It's a little like being at a dessert buffet and asking "what should I have?"
You'll get a better response if you ask a more targeted question. No one here is going to know from two pictures what kind of equipment you may have, where your tastes run, what look appeals to you, etc.
There are a lot of finishing tutorials on YouTube. I would suggest you see a bunch of them, narrow down what you want to try, and ask specific questions you may come up with on how to execute.
