Binding scraper

Here's my binding scraper / sizing tool. Its ,made from some plywood and hadrwood scraps, a couple of bolts and wing nuts, and an old plane blade. Adjustments are done by lightly tapping the plane blade, like on a traditional wooden hand plane. It works fine...

I use a very similar tool myself.

Arnt, I think that's the way I'm going to go. I just found an old plane iron that I can use, and have an assortment of bolts and wing nuts.

Do you have to start the strip off a little smaller before pulling it through? Thanks again for posting this...

I've used something similar in the past. On mine I put a shallow bevel at the top of the wood on the right to lead the binding in and pulled it through to the bottom. I then pulled it through fom the other end to get an even thickness over the whole length. Does this make sense?

Louie, I tilt the blade ever so slightly, so the opening is a little bit wider on one side. The binding or purfling strip can then be slipped in from the larger opening and pulled through, then flipped over and pulled through the other way. Easy peasy!

I forgot, was it you Arnt that had the home made binding marking gauges and binding cutters, binding ledge scraper tool and such?

Whoever it was, could that be posted up again?

I didnt save pictures, and need to copy some of those tools!
