The local wood turning club in Atlanta is talking about Red Tip. It is reported to be a good substitute for boxwood; takes detail well. Turners find plenty of green wood by developing relations with tree cutters in the area. Anyone wanting native woods can find it there. I just got a 25" round by 20" osage orange log section this way. Cutting it up for the future.
