Weissenborn wood

Post by Kary Karahadian »

I'd like to make a few Weissenborns. Along with the traditional koa t/b/s, I was interested in trying one with a spruce top and EIR b/s. I've not been able to source spruce tops of adequate length (min 33") or EIR b/s (sides minimum 41" min). Is there a go to source for Weissenborn sets? I've not found a good selection from the popular vendors.

Kary, you could try my friend Kerry Char in Portland. He cuts sets for harp guitars.

You should be able to get sets from Alaska Specialty Woods (sitka) or High Mountain Tonewood (lutz). I think they both sell harp guitar sets. They may not always have them in stock but I think each place will do custom cuts if you call them.
