which foams work for guitar stands

Post by Greg Martin »

Im building a multi guitar/case stand and need to find a foam that wont eat lacquer finishes, I was told by another seller that EPDM closed cell foams are good. Do any of you have experience with this ? thanks

Look at table 2 in this article for recommended foams in storage furniture for textiles. I'd avoid any foams that have any trace residual smell.

Why foam? There are alternatives: wool or cotton for example.
I use a pair of stockings for babies above the foam of commercial guitar stands.

As my point of view wool is better choice as compared to foam
