Why do humbucker base plates have legs? Not an April Fools joke. Seems like a waste of metal and stampling.

The legs have a 3-48 threaded hole each into which the height adjusting screws thread into. Those screws connect the pickup to the pickup mounting ring or bezel which is then screwed onto the top of the guitar with 4 little #2 wood screws. There's a ballpoint pen style spring between the bottom of the bezel and the top of the leg's feet that keeps upwards pressure on the pickup to stabilize it. It's a jankety system the kinda works in a sorta way.

I use baseplates without legs.
