build youre own floating arch top pickup

I'm curious about how floating pickups are made, bobbin construction, wire etc . Id like to use a wooden case.so it seems doable.
Most commercial units are encased in epoxy so internal inspection is hard. Anyone here made their own floating jazz pickups? or articles or links would be of great value thanks

Many are wound on a removable bobbin and tied into clean oval coils with little string ties before being potted in wax or lacquer. Many are wound on thin fishpaper bobbins that are held between rigid disks on the winder and potted whole.
Some use ceramic magnets, some use alnico magnets driving steel poles. It all depends on how thin you need the thing to be.
Look at photos of DeArmond pickups like the Rhythm Chief 1100 or look up the original patents.
