Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome
Hey all, i must have posted when the update was going on and it got lost. Basically, I have these units up by the ceiling because that is where i have space. I agree that collecting down by the floor would be more productive, but I'm trying to keep my lungs clear. The dust that is suspended in the a...

Follow-up:
System is complete. I have made 2 boxes, added Filtrete 1900 2nd-ary filters, hung them on the ceiling, and put them on remote control.
They are in opposite corners of the shop - pointing so they circulate the air in the room. It is real nice.

Re: about using an eggbeater drill
Mark says... "a large handled screwdriver with a keyless 3/8" drill chuck"
A macho pin vise, I like that!! I have all the parts, need to put that together!!
I use pin vises all the time for drilling small holes - that's really all i use to drill holes < 1/8" in wood.

Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome
No, no binding, no rosettes. Much thanks for the back-handed compliments tho - appreciated and noted. I am, however, going to put them on remote control on/off. I will be building the second one ASAP, and will be adding Filtrete 1900 secondary filters. So everyone can breathe a little easier - i kno...

Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome
And finally, just the back. So far the filter is just duct-taped on to the back of the box - which is designed to be the same OD as the filter. Here's the thing... Thanks for bringing up NordicPure, but I am NOT impressed with them. The filters are supposed to be MERV13, which should be filtering sm...

The rear with the "guts" in view.
The guts are the blower, a 24 volt DC power supply, and the filter.

Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome
I made progress on my filter units after the NordicPure filters showed up Friday. Below is the bid from the front. I made them from plywood material i have just laying around - The face piece has a purple plastic veneer. The 2 rectangular holes are where the air comes out - and boy, those blowers ca...

Re: Shards and splinters
Second Bryan's question. I noted right away you said "The gorilla glue repair came apart also." as if it were a given. I would have expected that it was PU glue, which would have to be swan apart or "broken". Assuming it was PU - as Bryan said, Gorilla is a blanket brand now. Als...

Re: "Kelobre"?
I used Parota for a furniture project recently, and it seemed like it would be a great lutherie wood - very low density, but stiff, with great color.

Re: Replace or re-configure rattling truss rod?
Stuck the needle in the hole, and easily injected 1ml into both locations. Rattle is gone. After injecting, i cleaned up the fret slots and replaced the old frets. Going on vacation tomorrow, so leveling and re-setup will have to wait a week. It was an easy job. Thanks for the advise everyone, this ...

Re: Replace or re-configure rattling truss rod?
Put my 100% silicone in a 3ml syringe with a 17 gage needle (i think - it has a 1/16" OD)
I was shocked at how easy it was to pass the silicone through the needle.

Re: Replace or re-configure rattling truss rod?
Did the geometry to find out how to drill down to the rod under the steel bar. I chose to drill at 45 degrees, and needed to be offset from the center by a bit more than 3/8". Pulled the 5th and 10th fret and, marked the spot with yellow tape and carefully drilled in with a 1/16" bit in a ...

Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome
Hey Randy, I did remember that Mario had done something clever (imagine that :O). I'm not going to be able to do that, I don't have any free wall space. These are going to be up on the 8' ceiling. Above my work island so nobody can hit their head. And the blowers are small, so they can be low-profil...
