CAD File for E335 Back and Front

Hi there,
Does anyone have a non-copyrighted 3D CAD model of front and back of an E335 that they would be willing to share? I want to experiment with vacuum pressing some laminated components for these guitars and this would save me an age!
Regards
Darren

Re: side bending

I was completely astonished at how much more rigid my Maccaferri body was with laminated linings than my previous guitars had been with kerfed linings. If you are looking for stiffness then laminated is the way to go.

Re: Double sides

I have used both a spray contact adhesive specifically meant for polystyrene and a glue film (basically double sided tape without the paper carrier in the middle). I might give a very light weight guitar a go at some stage but a couple of other makers who I have had dealings with seem to be going in...

Re: Double sides

Good morning, I have been vacuum pressing veneered and laminated components for almost 20 years and, last January, decided that I could put off making a guitar no longer. I have now built four (2 completely finished and strung) based on a Georgia Luthier plan, and I have a Maccaferri Petite Bouche p...

Re: Saddle compenstion, Gibson LG-1

Hey Freeman,
I have just looked at you photos more closely. OMG! Is that injection moulded monstrosity really what Gibson were fitting to their acoustics in the 70’s? How on earth did they maintain their reputation?

Re: Shaping the sides of a Selmer/Maccaferri guitar

Hi Bill, Thank you very much for your feedback, that's very interesting and useful. If I understand you correctly, the top and back adopt the lateral geometry of the braces and are pulled down to the straight edges of the sides, with the longitudinal curvature of the sound board and back being creat...

Re: Saddle compenstion, Gibson LG-1

Re: 1970s Martins - I guess you either hang them on a wall and look at them or get them fixed and play them. What other options are there? Too good to burn surely!!! Seriously though, the https://www.liutaiomottola.com/formulae/compensation.htm calculator is awsome and takes into account string gaug...

Shaping the sides of a Selmer/Maccaferri guitar

I am building a Petite Bouche copy with a sharp creased (rather than wider bend) pliaged soundboard. Has anybody created side templates which would allow me to get the sides more or less to shape before final sanding? The geometry of these guitars is pretty odd to say to say the least and I am strug...

Re: Form for laminating guitar sides

Hi Carl, Different approach but here are the moulds and sides I vacuum laminated in white ebony. PTFE coated cloth on top of the polystyrene mould and a similarly coated caul of 0.8mm birch plywood on the outside. The lamination of 5 layers of veneer (three long and two cross grain) were bonded with...

Re: Form for laminating guitar sides

Hi, as a first time poster to this forum I am new to actual guitar making (not the concept) but not to vacuum pressing so, when I eventually got around to making my first guitars in January of this year laminating backs and sides was the natural route for me to take. I made high density polystyrene ...
