Re: Clamping shattered mando w/ repurposed wiper blade

I use a similar idea fir clamps by cutting PVC into 1 1/2” - 2” wide sections then making a slit into the pipe. The slit allows the PVC to open and applies pressure to the joint. You can use any appropriate diameter PVC. 3 and 4” seems to work well.

Re: Planning a workbench, any tips?

I have always wanted to make a bench using the bases from barber chairs. They would be adjustable in height, and more than stable enough for luthier work. One would probably do the job for a small top, two would be better for a larger top.

Re: Shop air filtration build - Advise welcome

I have a Jet. In the manual it suggests that the unit be hung from the ceiling and along a wall. This keeps the air circulating in a circular pattern.

Re: about using an eggbeater drill

Looks like a breast drill. In use, your chest would apply pressure to the top plate while turning the crank with your hand.

Re: Fabric covering on a guitar

I occasionally make surfboards and I have used fabric inlays on them. One bit of caution, make sure that you test the fabric and the finish that you are using. Some of the dyes may run with your particular finish and ruin the project.
